This is a small collection of interesting or amusing footie stuff on
the web. In particular, we have
English,
Scottish and
German
football, and the
rest of the world.
English Football
Shaggy's guide to the
FA Premiership is a truly wonderful document which I highly
recommend to anybody even remotely interested in English premier
league football. It boasts a lot of background information, monthly
summaries, a fixture list, the current league table and all results and
individual pages about every club, giving their results so far,
fixtures to come, the squad, a look at the history and comments about
the upcoming season.
Scottish Football
Here is the web page of Scotland's finest, Hibernian FC
. Scottish football has its own page,
which offers such amazing pieces of information as the 1891 Scottish
league table:
Scottish League 1890-91 P W D L F A W D L F A Pts GA 1. Dumbarton 18 7 2 0 35 8 6 1 2 26 13 29 2.905 Rangers 18 7 1 1 31 11 6 2 1 27 14 29 2.320 3. Celtic 18 7 2 0 26 8 4 1 4 22 13 21 2.286 -4pts 4. Cowlairs 18 3 2 4 19 27 0 2 7 5 23 6 0.480 -4pts Dumbarton and Rangers drew deciding match 2-2 and were declared joint champions.Which begs two questions: where are Hibs? And who are this team called "Rangers"? Speaking of which, there more links on Ally Hume's home page.
German Football
There is a server for the
German
Bundesliga. Though not quite as elaborate and fancy as the English
Premiership server above, it has all the data you can
possibly want for the first two German divisions, and then some.
I used to recommend Bernd's Soccer Page here (which in particular has standings and results of the Regionalliga Nord). I still do, but personally the importance of these data has waned since VfB Lübeck has won promotion to the second division of the German league. And not doing bad there, I might add. A new might in European football is on the rise, and I hear there are already worries at the San Siro and the Nou Camp, and quite rightly so.
And probably the only German team running their own web page, HSG HUB e.V., the football team of Berlin's Humboldt-Universität.
