Glen Sloy

Age 25 years
Strength 75° proof
Comments A cask of 25 years old malt was found at the Tullibardine distillery, but it was not labelled. It was assumed to be Tullibardine, but, as there was no label on the cask, it was felt that it could not be bottled as Tullibardine. It was bought by F.Bucher & Co., who bottled it under the name of Glen Sloy. There was only one cask, and so this whisky is no more. It was first tasted by The Gillies Club at the home of Dr.David Daiches in Edinburgh, during their tour of Scotland, and subsequently at the home of Dr.Ron Sutherland Snr., at his home at Loch Ness. Dr Daiches' comment on it was "An extremely fine malt. I shall enter it in my tasting book".
Members' comments "Sweetish malt nose with no alcohol. Sweetish malt taste with only a sensation of alcohol. Not a big aftertaste. Extremely pleasant malt". "A very smooth richly flavoured malt. Very fine indeed". "A model malt. Can be used as a base. Rich and round. One of the nicest tasted". "A combination of all ingredients. Wood and alcohol are present but not strong. A fine and big whisky". "A beautiful whisky. Wood is present". "The lack of peat spoils the balance, but smooth, plus, plus".
