Comments This was the first malt ever imported by The Gillies Club. It was imported in bottles which were, in fact, intended for the Italian market, and still had labels in Italian. Eight dozen bottles were imported.
Members' comments "Less alcohol and a slightly stronger nose than the 8 year old" "A heavily bodied nose with a touch of caramel". "A sherriness is noted on the nose". "The nose is firmer than the 8 year old. The malt and peat are the same, but the alcohol is less than the 8 year old" "The alcohol burns more in the 18 year old than the 8 year old, and this is the big difference. It is rich and creamy with an alcohol warmth". "This whisky has an extra taste that I haven't noticed in other malts". "I prefer the 18 year old to the 8 year old because I prefer the stronger taste and bouquet. It bites on the way down, which I like". "There isd alcohol on the nose. It is beautifully round with a creamy effect. It is so smooth, yet with all that flavour". "This is better balanced than the 8 year old with better disguised alcohol. These seem to be two different whiskies, and I can't relate the two". "There is little peat - all alt and alcohol. It is definitely an after-dinner and not a pre-prandial malt".
