Members comments "A not bad malt, with a bit too much sharp alcohol and a bit much sweetness". "A well balanced medium whisky". "Too light for my taste buds". "This is a very pleasant light malt". "Doesn't seem to have the characteristics of a 19 year old whisky, i.e. wood and roundness. Lacks cask character somewhat. Light bodied and a pleasant drinking whisky". "Not overly impressed. Seems too strong for a 19 year old. Tends to improve with water". "Remarkably improved by Macquarie Pass water".
Comments This malt was tasted at a combined meeting of branches of The Gillies Club, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Club. It was attended by members from 4 of the branches. Macquarie Pass is a mountain pass a few miles out of Wollongong, and it has a number of small waterfalls fed by streams which do not pass through any land habited by either humans or animals. It was the practice at the time for The Gillies Club to gather water from one or other of these waterfalls to add to the malts being tasted.
