Fochabers is sited at one of the main crossings of the river Spey in rolling country among woods and valleys. The town itself is modern by Scottish standards and was built in the 18th century on a rectangular street layout.

There are numerous enjoyable walks in the area amongst trees and streams.

You can follow the A96 west to Elgin, south-east to Keith or the A98 north-east to Buckie.
