Linlithgow
55.59 ° N 3.37 ° W
Linlithgow is to the west of Edinburgh, close to the Forth and was once a
centre of malt-distilling in the Lowlands. It is an ancient town with a
lovely loch and a ruined royal palace, in which Mary, Queen of Scots was born.
It is in the middle of what is now known as 'Silicon Glen', an area of light
modern industries and one of the two major areas of electronics assembly in
the UK.
