This is a seaside malt, produced near Portsoy, on the coast of Speyside. The distillery is between the Spey and the river Deveron, just a little closer to the latter. It was founded in 1875, bought by Highland Distilleries in the 1890s and completely rebuilt in 1960. It has been temporarily closed since the mid 1980s. The single malt is not widely available []. The whisky has also contributed to blends like the Famous Grouse, Cutty Sark and Lang's.
