The village spells Atholl with the double "l" while the distillery uses just
one. Village and distillery are on the whisky route between Speyside
and the blending and shipping town of Perth. The mountain resort of Pitlochry,
known for its summer theatre is not far away. The distillery traces its origins
to 1798 and was most recently extended in the 1970s.
