I hope that this is going to be the case. Although
undergradutes do not have the luxury of personal machines
the ones that they have access to are of a considerably
higher quality.

Modern PCs must be the most cost effective way to go.
Boasting about the quality of the Sun workstations
in departmental advertising is fine, but it seems that
there is just not sufficient equipment budget to support
that.
