Use of Markov algorithms

This approach has not been pursued for a number of reasons.

• The descriptions were difficult to manipulate, Markov algorithms can be composed, but the resulting algorithm is far more complex, and does not simplify as readily as FSAs.

• Converting existing specification languages into Markov algorithms is far from straightforward.
