The department offers a single honours degree course in computer science as well as joint degrees with the following disciplines:

Course Structures

All the computer science degrees are 4 years long. In the first two years three subjects are studied. In the final two years you only study your honours subject(s).
First and Second Year
Computer science, Maths and one other subject are studied; Joint honours students study their other honours subject while single honours students can choose from a wide range of courses available throughout the university.

Third Year
A number of modules are presented each covering a specific area of computer science in depth. Students choose their study from the modules available. Joint honours students normally take half the modules taken by Single honours students. A large group project is also undertaken. The project aims to simulate a working development environment. The project proves to be exiting and interesting experience for most students.

Final Year
In the final year of study all students devote a large amount of their study time to a major individual project. Joint honours students may choose which of their disciplines to take the project in. The project is supervised by a member of staff and usually involves some form of current research. The rest of their time is spent studying a selection of modules covering advanced computer science topics.
