Welcome to the HASE Dinero user guide!

This user guide is divided into four sections.  To get started as quickly as possible, try looking in the Tutorial section.  If you are having a problem using HASE Dinero, try the Point and Click Guide.  The Guide to Use section provides information on how to start HASE Dinero and use the simulation interface.  Finally, the Background section provides information on both HASE and Dinero.

HASE Dinero is a computer cache architecture teaching and evaluation tool.  A simulation model of the first level cache in a memory hierarchy is provided, using the features of the Hierarchical computer Architecture design and Simulation Environment (HASE).  The HASE Dinero simulation model provides several advanced features:

Animation of cache activity
Modification of all cache parameters
Many types of simulation results feedback
Explanatory tutorial mode of operation

To gain an understanding of both cache operation and techniques that can be used to improve cache performance, the book Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach by J. Hennessy & D. Patterson comes highly recommended.
