Java at Home

Here are what I hope are useful links to sites that are more geared towards using java at home than in the university.

Downloading Java Products

Sun's JDK is available on many platforms, and most of them (not linux) are available from the Java Products page at the sunsite. This is also the page to look at for any other Sun based Java product including API's. If you wish to look for products not written by sun then the Java Solutions Guide contains links to a huge number of products. You should note that all 100% certified products will run on any Java Virtual Machine (execept maybe Microsoft JVM's if you have the latest version as this is not 100% compatible with the spec - take a look at the law suit).

If you want to download for linux then you need to go to the Java Linux home page. This has a comprehensive list of resources for the linux and java enthusiast.

Other Sites of Interest

• The Open Source Webring has links to various interesting java related projects, its still quite small though.
• IBM's Java Development Home Page contains the IBM products and support services - some interesting neutral pages as well though. Some of there software is also free.
