Lo Scotch Whisky

La Scozia ospita il numero di distillene piú alto del mondo, oltre 100, ch producono il whisky di malto con il secolare metodo Pot Still e il whisky di cereali con il metodo Coffey Stiil introdotto nel 1831. 11 whisky di malto è prodotto in quattro regioni principali: le Highiands (Terre alte), le Lowlands (Terre basse) Campbeltown e Islay . I whisky di malto de lle H i ghiands prodoti nella valle dello Spey sono noti co me S peyside Malt Whisky. Molte distillerie imbottigliano una certa produzione come Single Malt, ma la maggior parte del whisky consumato oggi è del tipo miscelato o blended. Il blend può comprendere fino a 50 whisky di malto e di cereali, tutti elaborati nelle distillerte indicate sul la piantina nprodotta in alto e sap ie ntemente mis celati per ass icura re qualità e s apore costa nti .
