Archiestown
The picturesque village of Archiestown, situated on the scenic
B9102 road to Grantown-on-Spey, is the largest village in the
parish of Knockando. The village takes its name from Sir
Archibald Grant of Monymusk who founded the village on the
moor of Ballintomb about 1760. Prominently sited in the
village is the 18 foot high war memorial which was unveiled
in 1920 by the Duke of Richmond and Gordon. The hotel dates
from 1900.
