Glen Mhor's home town Inverness, at the western fringe of Speyside had three distilleries - none of which survives. All were owned by the Distillers Company Limited which became United Distillers. Glen Mhor and Glen Albyn were neighbours on the western side of the city. Glen Mhor, built in 1892, was once powered by a water turbine. For some time it provided whisky for the Mackinlay blends. It closed in 1983 and has since been demolished but its whisky can still be found. Purists pronounce it Glen Vawr.
