The distillery, near Alness was founded in
1817, grew very quickly and was extened in 1899. In 1970 a new stillhouse was
constructed. With its six stills visible from the road it looks a very modern
establishment. It closed in the mid 1980s but reopened in 1991 and there may
be future official bottlings.

SMWS bottling 59.2 Teaninich.
Said to come from an
amontillado sherry cask, but there was a definite hint of salt, so I
wonder whether it was a manzanilla cask. 12 years old and 115.7%!
To be treated with great care, and a lot of water, but had a pleasant
citrusy flavour at the end. [rb]
