5.2 Windows NT, NTFS, and time zones

There is a problem with InstallShield, the program used for installing MLWorks on Windows, which causes difficulties when using the MLWorks compilation manager on an NTFS file system (Windows NT only).

To avoid these difficulties, you should reset the time zone if you are installing the Windows version of MLWorks on an NTFS file system, and the time-zone is not GMT with Daylight Savings disabled. That is to say, if you are installing MLWorks anywhere other than in the UK, or at a time other than winter time, your machine's time zone setting must be changed for the duration of the installation process. You may need the help of your NT systems administrator to make the change.

To reset the time zone:

1. Open the Control Panel from My Computer.

2. From Control Panel, open Date/Time.

3. In Date/Time, select TimeZone (Alt-Z) and choose the Greenwich Mean Time option:

[GMT] Greenwich Mean Time; Dublin, Edinburgh, London

4. Uncheck the Disable Daylight Saving adjustment box.

5. Click OK.

You can now follow the normal MLWorks installation procedure. After installation, reset the time zone to whatever it was before you changed it.
