1.2 The top level of the MLWorks interactive environment

The MLWorks interactive environment, invoked either as MLWorks, or as MLWorks with the Standard ML Basis library, provides the structures MLWorks, General and Shell at top level. A a number of other items unqualified by module names are also available, such as basic ML types and arithmetic operators.

The MLWorks and Shell structures are MLWorks libraries discussed later in this chapter. The General structure is part of the Standard ML Basis library.
