fund forum : Preliminary List of Entity Classes

Analyse for:
Various types of Content
This sub-system consists of things like different sorts of copy, resource lists, etc.

Entities representing real-world objects directly
  1. Jurisdictions (our use of the term — loosely, includes countries). Jurisdictions can occur in the context of:
    • Registration or Legal constitution of a fund
    • Domicile
    • Market
    • Investment Target
    • Taxation Authority
    • Administrative centre
    • Custody base
  2. Groups of Jurisdictions: it would be nice to have at least one or more partitions (i.e. non-overlapping divisions) of this class, for structuring lists by location, etc., but anything else can go in here as well. Perhaps there is also need for collections of groups. In case this is all getting too abstract, an example:
One could classify markets as developed , emerging, or not. Developed and Emerging would be Groups of Jurisdictions; the classification Developed/Emerging/whatever would be a useful collection of groups.
  3. Otherwise, we have eliminated "country", as such from our conceptual analysis, however the term could be re-introduced to cover some of the functions of Jurisdiction without causing too much hassle (I think!).
  4. Companies

  5. Individuals

  6. Types of Product
  7. Types of Fund / Investment Scheme (let's decide on a term and stick to it)
  8. . Specialises Type of Product, perhaps.
  9. Types of Insurance Product (is this useful?)

  10. Products
  11. Funds / Investment Schemes
  12. Insurance Products (is this useful?)

  13. Regulations / Rules / Items of Legislation

  14. Industry Associations
  15. Regulatory Bodies
  16. Stock Exchanges
  17. Other Official Bodies

  18. Types of Administrative Structure
  19. Fees/Comission structures
  20. Product Features

Many of these entities have few attributes other than a piece of descriptive text, and some resource lists. A few have rather more to them.
