EPCC Squash: Match Report
Substandard Deviations (II), 21st November 1995
Match Report provided by: TZ

Score: EPCC 15 - Substandard Deviations (II) 5
Another tremendous run by the EPCC team left the opponents in
thrashing defeat. Recent results (12-6, 15-7, 15-5) show ever
increasing performance and suggest that the team has still some
undiscovered possibilities.
- KB
squash ladder's No. 1 Vivek kicked off this time. Getting more and
more back to his usual performances after recent breaks he could avoid
last week's hassle when he was forced to
go over 5 sets and won in straight sets this time.
- Thomas - the Ironman - Schreiber was next. This week's victim was
an elder lady who left the court red headed, totally exhausted and
breathing heavily. The Ironman had struck again ... This time
without sweating. He even rejected to take a drop of coke from TZ's
can. But what do you expect?
- Quickly realising that there were two female names on positions 3
and 4 of the opponents' players list tricky JR tried to get rid of
position 1 by swapping with TZ before the match. Whereas the latter
rejected the offer his opponent couldn't resist JR and the big guy
lashed one ball after the other over the court. A straight sets win
that shouldn't surprise anyone.
- After last week's desaster Thomas
eventually realised that things could even get worse: quickly trailing
0:6 in the first set, clinching the second only by 10:8 after having
saved several set points and loosing the third after having lead by
5:0 he remembered his compatriot's iron performance of last week.
Concentrated playing in sets 4 and 5 broke the opponent finally.
Probably the most entertaining but definitely not the best performance
of this week's games.
- Julian - the Bomber - contributed this week's only defeat. Rumours
behind the court walls suggested that this was due to the
lack of a homepage
.
Man of the Match Award: Thomas Z., for pulling back from the
brink of defeat and providing the most entertaining match.
