EPCC Squash: Match Report
Chemistry 1, 28th January 1997
Match Report provided by: TMS
Score: EPCC 14 - Chemistry 7
Team:
- Alistair (JR) Ewing (1-3)
- Thomas (Why me?) Zurek (3-1)
- Thomas (Ironman) Schreiber (1-3)
- Ana (Goldi) Goldenberg (3-0)
- Andrew Curtis (3-0)
Chemistry 1 was in for a surprise. They fought hard and were bitterly
disappointed. EPCC did it again. Can anyone remember the last time we
actually lost a game?
-
A good coach, certainly, but this term, JR has yet to prove that he
deserves to be the EPCC's number one. In an otherwise excellent game,
we were missing JR's usual determination. Maybe, he should cut down on
these crisps rations?

Why me gave his opponent a hard time. He killed almost every serve
instantaneously. Clearly having the better technique at his command,
within a few minutes, he lead 2-0. Of course, we know that for Why me
this is the mother of all scores. As one might expect, he irrationally gave away
the third set. However, the final score 3-1 indicates that Why me may
very well be the future number one.

For the first time in many years, the Ironman has been humiliated. Not
really himself on the court he was stunned to have lost the first set
8-10. Following a tie 1-1, it has to be admitted that the Ironman
played unconvincingly, seemingly gasping for breath. A well-deserved
victory for Chemistry 1.

Goldi is back from the hot. Her four weeks training camp in Brazil
have prepared her more than adequately for the game. She clinched 3-0
without much sweat and left her opponent in agony trashing his racket
after the game. Goldi for President!
-
The other team obviously being somewhat overconfident (we used to play
in division 2...) didn't even bother to select a fifth player. The
EPCC could therefore not test its new secret weapon Andrew Curtis.
Instead he chased JR around the court in an extra training slot.
With JR and the Ironman back to the training camp, who will stop us
this term?
