Audiographic Systems

Add to the audio channel various forms of low-bandwidth graphics, such as text, diagrams, telewriting or still pictures. The addition of graphics elements overcomes the obvious pictorial limitations of "pure" audioconferencing, and some research has indicated that even in subjects with no obvious pictorial content, the use of graphics assists the teaching process, probably because the screen provides a focus of attention for the students.
