Notes:

The major growth markets (1981-92) were Thailand, Korea, Spain
Most of Australia's whisky is bought in bulk (63% in 1991).
In 1992 51% of sales to Japan were bulk malt whisky.
Italy buys over 99% of its whisky bottled in Scotland as opposed to bulk; about 25% of sales are single malts (representing 27% of the world's sales of single malts).
Spain and Portugal have been particularly buoyant markets since their entry to thc EC in 1986.

Notes:

The no. 1, Glenfiddich, sold in the region of 800,000 cases world-wide in 1991; no. 2, Glen Grant, sold 500,000 cases; Isle of Jura at no. 10 sold 32,000 cases. In the UK Glenfiddich sold approx. 125,000 cases; Lagavulin at no. 10 sold 7,300 cases (20,700 in export markets).
