This title raises the question whether it is possible to actually separate the "person" from the "computer scientist". I am not quite sure about this because quite often I find that the sort of logical reasoning related to proving theorems in mathematics or computer science also pervades my everyday choices in life. Is this sad or is it just natural???

Myself Never mind the philosophical blabla, this page is dedicated to Marco, the man behind the man, and therefore let us cheer up a bit, I am quite cheerful for most of the time. Thus, I present you with a picture of myself posing rather stupidly and in quite a bad need of a shave… The T-shirt I am wearing on that picture is one of the few remnants from my days a a fan of heavy metal music, namely it is a shirt of the band Paradise Lost although I have to say I like it anyway because of the picture, some kind of crucifixion scene which I find a rather aesthetic portrait of suffering.

What could I tell you, the reader of this page, about myself that has nothing to do with computer science? Well, as most people are, I am quite fond of music. This fondness goes as far as to owning lots of vinyl records, and also quite a few CDs, which in turn leads to me spending lots of money to keep that two numbers growing, which then again involves spending lots of money and you know how it is, there are always too many good bands and records, but always to few pounds, D-marks or dollars, whichever currency you prefer most. oh, yes, I nearly forgot EURO which we all love...

As a sentient being, I do not only enjoy sounds, but also react to visual stimuli so I am quite naturally fond of movies, although I have to say that the movies I like tend to be rather off-beat, could there be some connection to a certain off-beatness in my character? I hope not… :-)

Stimuli of yet another kind, namely for the imagination, can be found in books and I surely like to read. Most of the time I try to read a book in the original language - if I am able to understand it which is a rather limiting factor because I only speak German and English well enough to cope with anything different from comics…

Of course, well, some people might not think it's that obvious but never mind, I also have some friends to whose pages you can find some together with some other useful links links that didn't fit with any of the other pages…

Calvin and Hobbes debating what being cool is all about I sympathise with Calvin's desire for being cool very much because that's what life is all about, isn't it?
