Interest in Educational Technology is increasing very rapidly, from Computer Assisted Learning to Computer-Mediated Education, from specialised pieces of software to the Internet/World Wide Web, from simply delivering lecture notes to fully accredited degrees.

The Wold Wide Web (WWW) is widely and freely available, both, its client and server software are free. Most technology surrounding it, such as groupware tools and Multi User environments, is also free, making relatively simple to implement a Distance Computer-Mediated Education environment.
